Independent living, sustainable benefits
One of our main goals is to help people to live independently.
Part of independent living is improving team and work skills including involvement in community activities. That is why we have set up self-sustaining social enterprises the JT Project and Occasions Catering so that service users can learn new skills, work as part of a team within the community, and gain confidence and independence with all the benefits that brings.
Based at Hill House in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, Occasions is a professional catering service run by service users that provides hot and cold meals for conferences held by emh group and Enable, and for staff attending training courses at the venue.
Occasions also offers a cake-making service for birthdays and weddings.
The JT Project
Also based at Hill House in Huthwaite, the JT Project gives adults with learning difficulties training and work experience across a range of activities to improve skills, team work, and confidence.
The JT Project has partnered with our Property Services department, enabling service users to gain work experience alongside housing maintenance staff. This provides work experience for people with learning difficulties, including wood work, gardening, and a delivery service to Enable properties.
