Care business to hold virtual Xmas activities for local charities

Unable to hold Christmas parties this year for residents of its nursing homes and visitors to its Day Centres, Derbyshire-based emh care & support has launched a virtual 12 Days of Christmas event to which everyone is invited.

The charitable care organisation has partnered with the Great Midlands Charities Coalition (GMCC) to raise funds for a range of local charities by producing a pack containing 12 Covid-safe activities for people to take part in during the run up to Christmas. The final activity will be a virtual Christmas party taking place on Zoom on Friday 18 December.

The packs cost less than £14 each - emh care & support will be gifting them to their residents and service users in place of their usual parties – with all proceeds going to emh care & support and other local charities, including Pathways of Chesterfield, the Asian Association, and Junction Arts.

You can order the packs online or by emailing michelle.drain@emhcareandsupport.org.uk or by calling Michelle on 07422 077224.

Jo Grainger, Executive Director of emh care & support, said: “We normally have a Christmas party every year for our service users. This year we didn’t want people to miss out on the opportunity of people meeting each other in some way, so we got together with GMCC and the homeless charity Pathways of Chesterfield to create the 12 Days of Christmas activity packs to ensure that friends can still celebrate Christmas together.

“All the proceeds raised from the sale of the packs will be shared between some great local charities, so please show your support for this wonderful event.”

Michelle Cotterill from sponsors Willmott Dixon added: “We are delighted to be supporting emh care & support with their 12 days of Christmas virtual event, helping to play a part in bringing together the local community and reducing social isolation and loneliness. We have been working closely with emh care & support this year to make sure that our Springfields extra care scheme, that is currently on site, is going to make the local community proud, and we hope that by supporting this much-needed initiative we can engage and support the community and its local people even further.”
