Taking Day Services into the community

Our Day Services locations may be closed, but that has not stopped our resourceful people from keeping our service users active.

Project Manager Glyn Armstrong from the J.T. Project in Huthwaite has been coordinating with several of our regular service users and arranging to take them on a one-to-one basis for their daily exercise. Social distancing is observed at all times.

The service users have been on canal and countryside walks, spotting a new born calf and NHS scarecrows along the way. They have also taken part in litter picks, tried their hand at needlecraft, created rainbows to display in their windows, drawn Chesterfield FC football ground, and helped out on the allotment.

The service users are really happy with temporary arrangements, as can be seen from their enthusiasm and heard from all their talk and laughter.

Some of the staff from the Golding Grange and Medway Day Services have been temporarily seconded to the Supported Living team, where staff have been furloughed or are self-isolating, to help with the Outreach work supporting people living on their own.

Others have been redeployed to support the nursing homes with collecting PPE.
